the winter season. There are also numerous activities that take place
in the summer season. The project "observatoire de la diversité"
takes place in Cléron, on the plateau d'Amancey (25). Cléron

at about 600 metres altitude. Cléron has about 200 inhabitants
and is in a valley which is in the process of desertification.
Cléron is situated between Besançon (220 000 inhabitants),

Objectives:
for the volunteer, allowing him to live out a European experience from
the point of view of language, culture, learning how to do and how to
act, around a local development project. For the community : setting
up a new development initiative around a local adult education project
with the participation of 2 European Volunteers. For the Association:
implement new activities around local projects by developing an active
European Citizenship. For the Project : rally the inhabitants, the young
people in particular, with regard to the essential components of their
daily context of life. Allow for an inventive form of conservation of
the familiar countryside and the normal eco-systems. Promote the acquisition
of knowledge via an exploration of the living environment (heritage,
countryside, environment). Return the data to the local elected officials
and the population.
Activities: inventories
of the land (educational activities with the middle-school colleges
and placing the data gathered into the network (exhibitions, Website,
etc.)
Target population:
people, whether disadvantaged or not, strongly environmentally-motivated
(with good basic knowledge of biology, ecology, botany) and via work
experience within a new cultural environment. Links with other projects.
The EVS Volunteers will be associated with the volunteer work camp motivation/
leadership teams organised by the ECHEL association in the Franche Comté.
The 50% co-financing will be implemented by the Community of the Municipalities

which will be chosen by the Volunteers (e.g. the exploration of the
region via its flowers and exploration of the countryside of the towns
of the Franche-Comté.
Board: Housing
in an apartment in one of the municipalities, Eternoz, with a budget
accorded for meals. Please Note : this village with 200 inhabitants
is very isolated in a rural area in the process of having its population
draining away. It might be an advantage if the Volunteer is able, to
bring his or her own vehicle, to provide greater independence.
Training support:
Two youth leaders will provide the mentoring. One youth leader for
the technical aspects and one (female) youth leader, also a teacher
of French as a foreign language, to mentor the Volunteers in the language
