- Research Fields: compositional,
textural and structural features of sedimentary rock. Sandstone clan is
particularly emphasised with references to their petrography, mineralogy and
geochemistry in order to define the provenance and to interpret the tectonic
evolution of the “drainage-sedimentary basin” system.
- Current, ongoing researches:
petrography and sedimentology of the Cretaceous-Tertiary turbidite sandstones
cropping out (a) in the Sicilian Maghrebian Chain, (b) in the Internal Rif
(Morocco). Investigation of the sediment sources and of the provenance
variations in order to provide a complete sequence of the tectonic events
occurred during the geodynamic evolution of the western Mediterranean area.
